Serafin's Surf Gestures
Joshua Serafin came out with his first surf Gesture painting in 1999. He had honed in on his skills for capturing the gesture in his drawing classes at Long Beach State University. He used a long hair sumi ink brush on paper. His subject were live models that performed gestures on a stage in the middle of the class. He enjoyed capturing the essence of the models gesture. So he took his love and knowledge of surfing and began to produce his own "Essence of the Gesture" style with oil paints on canvas and glass.
